All You Need to Know About Golf Handicap Golfer: What are the Best Practices to Track Handicap Score

For many new golfers, the concept of a handicap can be shrouded in mystery. In the world of golf, the handicap system serves as a leveling mechanism, allowing players of different skill levels to compete on an equal footing. What is a Golf Handicap? A golf handicap is a numerical measure of a golfer’s potential ability. In simpler terms, it indicates how many strokes a golfer is expected to receive compared to a scratch golfer (a hypothetical golfer who consistently shoots par). The lower your handicap, the better your skill level. Here’s the beauty of the handicap system: it allows golfers of different abilities to compete fairly on the same course. A high handicapper receives strokes on specific holes, making the final score more even-matched against a low handicapper who plays from scratch. Why Track Your Handicap Score? There are several compelling reasons to track your handicap score: Fair Competition: A handicap allows you to enjoy friendly competition with golfers of varying skill levels. Tournaments often use handicaps to create a level playing field. Benchmark Your Progress: Tracking your handicap over time provides a tangible measure of your improvement. It’s a source of motivation and helps identify areas for improvement. Unlock Access to Competitive Play: Many clubs and tournaments require a valid handicap for participation. Tracking your scores allows you to establish your handicap and potentially compete in organized events. How is a Golf Handicap Calculated? The current system used worldwide is the World Handicap System (WHS), implemented in 2020. This system takes into account your best recent scores, along with course difficulty and your performance on the day. Here’s a simplified breakdown of the WHS calculation: Differential: This is the difference between your gross score (total number of strokes taken) and the course par. Course Rating & Slope Rating: These ratings reflect the inherent difficulty of a course, considering factors like length and layout. Handicap Calculation: A mathematical formula using your differentials, course ratings, and slope ratings determines your handicap index. This index is then converted to your final handicap rounded to the nearest whole number. Don’t worry, you don’t have to calculate your handicap yourself! Most golf courses and online platforms offer handicap tracking services that do the math for you. Simply submit your scores after each round, and the system will take care of the calculations. Best Practices for Tracking Your Handicap Score Here are some key practices to ensure accurate and efficient handicap tracking: Play by the Rules: Always adhere to the official Rules of Golf when recording your score. This ensures your scores accurately reflect your ability. Post Your Scores Regularly: Aim to post your scores after each round, or at least within a reasonable timeframe. This provides a continuous record for calculating your handicap index. Choose the Right Platform: Select a reputable platform for handicap tracking. Many golf courses offer member services with handicap tracking, or you can explore online platforms like Golf Canada’s GN Score https://scg.golfcanada.ca/ or the USGA’s GHIN system https://www.usga.org/handicapping/getting-a-usga-handicap-index.html. Understand Course Ratings: Familiarize yourself with the course rating and slope rating of the courses you play. This information is crucial for accurate handicap calculation. Additional Tips Maintain Course Etiquette: Always prioritize sportsmanship and proper etiquette on the course. Respect fellow players and the course itself. Practice Makes Perfect: Dedicate time to honing your skills on the driving range and putting green. Consistent practice leads to improvement and a potentially lower handicap. Seek Guidance: Don’t hesitate to seek professional instruction from a qualified PGA golf professional. Lessons can help identify areas for improvement and accelerate your golfing journey. Remember, golf is a lifelong learning experience that should be enjoyable. Embrace the challenge, track your progress, and have fun on the course! How Leather Golf Gloves Evolution Helped Us Develop the Best Sustainable Golf Glove

Golf emerged as a stick-and-ball game. In the 13th Century, the Dutch played a game called “Colf,” the most primitive and virgin version of golf. It was a simple game. The players had to hit a leather ball with a stick, trying to get it into the target. The player who did so using the fewest hits won! It was a game for everyone – undivided by class and social status. Things took a sharp turn when the Scots modernised the game. Now, only the elite had access to golf, with strict dress codes and expensive equipment. The sport became a symbol of wealth and status, and it was only played in exclusive clubs and private courses. Surprisingly, golf accessories like leather golf gloves didn’t make their debut until the late 1800s. Until then, golfers gripped their clubs with their bare hands, enduring blisters and poor luck every time their hands slipped due to perspiration. So, how did gloves evolve as one of the most important accessories? What about them makes them irreplaceable? What is today’s modern golf glove like? This article will uncover the evolution of golf gloves – from being barely there to becoming a crucial part of a golfer’s arsenal. Golf Gloves – Making an Entrance During the early years of golf, golfers trusted their naked hands to grip the club. It was a battle between calloused hands and the sheer tenacity of golfers. Since golf is a game of controlled and precise hand movements, they wanted a way to ensure their hold remained solid and consistent. They started chalking their hands for improved grip, but the method failed. Constant wiping disrupted the game’s flow and made holding the club difficult due to sweat and debris buildup on the handle. That’s when golf gloves entered the scene. Research by FootJoy suggests that the first advertisements for gloves started popping up in catalogues by 1898, and by the 1930s, they were spotted in professional tournaments. What did the first-ever golf gloves look like? The first golf gloves were made of leather and resembled driving gloves. They had open fingers, a closed palm area, and a velcro strap for a snug fit. The design was simple yet effective, providing the much-needed grip and preventing blisters. With time, players wanted more from their leather golf gloves, especially after big names like Arnold Palmer and Gary Player made them a standard. Newer Designs for a Better Feel Soon after leather golf gloves became a statement, manufacturers started including stitching patterns for better fit and improved flexibility. The once-non-existent glove was evolving into a versatile piece of sporting equipment. The new designs featured perforations to address issues like breathability and sweat absorption. This adoption made the gloves more comfortable to wear for extended periods. Mesh panels were another fail-proof way to promote air circulation and keep hands dry. Absorbent materials were used in the palm area to improve grip and prevent slipping due to sweat. Cabretta Leather Golf Gloves The most significant leap in golf glove evolution came with the introduction of synthetic materials, like Cabretta leather – a soft, thin leather sourced from the hide of hair sheep known for its durability and comfort. Since Cabretta leather golf gloves are lightweight, they add minimal weight to a golfer’s hand, improving their grip and promoting unrestricted movement. Their standout feature is their water-resistant properties. Whether you’re playing a round of golf in the rain or an early morning tee-off in dewy weather, Cabretta leather golf gloves never degrade in performance. The Innovations in Golf Glove Technology Today’s golf gloves are created using advanced technology and materials. For instance, multi-layered gloves feature a base layer that wicks away moisture, an insulating layer for warmth, and an outer layer to protect against harsh weather conditions. Golfers can also find gloves designed with breathable materials like lycra or spandex, promoting flexibility without compromising on grip. Some manufacturers have even incorporated touch-screen-friendly fingertips so players can use their phones without taking off their gloves. The Best Sustainable Golf Gloves at Putt Pursuit At Putt Pursuit, we understand the importance of strong grip, swift hand movement, and high comfort in golf. We are also committed to sustainability and the environment, which is why we offer high-quality Cabretta leather golf gloves to our clients. We pay close attention to detail to ensure our material is free of blemishes and scratches, the stitching is neat, and the fit is perfect. We also offer custom golf gloves, stitched to fit your hand size perfectly. The Importance of Golf Gloves Had early players realised how golf gloves can improve their game, the accessory would have entered the golf scene much earlier. Having said that, the fact that a few golfers like Lucas Glover have never used a golf glove can make you question the need for one. To help you see what you’re missing out on, this section will highlight how the absence of golf gloves can mess up your game. Poor Grip Without a glove, the club can slip out of your grip due to sweat or moisture, causing mishits and inconsistent shots. Hand Injuries Repeated swings without a glove can cause blisters and calluses, leading to discomfort and potential injury. The pain will distract you, getting in the way of your performance. Reduced Control A glove provides extra traction, helping maintain control over the club. Without it, your grip will not be as strong and your shots not be as accurate. Increased Fatigue You’ll have to grip the club harder without a glove. The extra force can cause forearm fatigue, draining your energy and overall stamina. Low Confidence When you’re confident about your grip, posture, and swing, you feel more confident and focused.
Master Golf – Top 10 Traits of a Successful Golfer

Success in golf goes beyond the power of a swing or the precision of a putt. It transcends the tangible moves of the game and delves into the depths of one’s mental strength and focus. No wonder golf is known as a mental game. When you’re on the golf course, decisiveness, present-mindedness, and confidence all matter. However, that’s not all to master golf. There are a few more traits you must focus on to improve your game. We’ve rounded ten such personality traits that successful golfers embody for a skilful game. If you can put them into practice, nothing stands in your way. Consistency is Underrated – Fixing Your Swing is Harder than Just Showing Up on Friday’s to Master Golf The adage, “practice makes perfect,” couldn’t be more applicable to master golf. A great golfer spends the required hours on the green, practising their swing and perfecting their putt. It’s not an overnight journey – it takes time, effort, and, most importantly, consistency. The more you practice, the more you learn. Establish a practice routine and stay true to it. Here are a few things you can include in your regime: Swing Mechanics: Work on your swing technique to improve your accuracy Short Game: Practice chipping, pitching, and putting to boost your overall performance Get Familiar to the Course: Learn to read the greens and judge the slopes and contours to make better decisions Patience is Virture – Many Say, Less Act You can’t be consistent without being patient, can you? Research proves that it can take about 10,000 hours to master a skill. Considering that, there’s no rushing in golf either, and avid golfers know that. They take their time to analyse and assess the course, wind speed, elevation changes, and other factors that affect their game. They understand that a bad shot is just a minor setback in the larger scheme of things and focus on the next move. Discipline – Keep Up With Your Physique Are you committed to improving your game? If so, you’ll need this trait in your bag. Discipline isn’t only about practicing regularly or arriving at the course on time. It’s about keeping up with your physical fitness, training your mind to avoid distractions, and making the right choices on and off the course. This trait can take time to develop, and that is okay. Start small and let it build up gradually. Adaptability – Pro’s Adapt Techniques They Have Mastered We all realise that each golf course is different. Some have tight fairways, while others boast strategically placed sand traps. Some are water-rich, while others are wooded. Each course requires a different game plan. A pro golfer adapts their technique and style to the course they’re playing on. Adaptability means being open to learning new techniques, practising different shots, and not getting too attached to a specific play. You can practice adaptability better if you understand the greens, know which club to use, and have a few perfected shots in your arsenal. Confidence is Overrated – Bunkers & Lakes Do Them Confidence in your game (and in yourself) will help you recover from past mistakes and visualise the next shot. It is one of the most valuable traits of a successful golfer. When you’re confident, the bunkers and the trees can’t dull your shine. All you can see is swinging your club with such precision that the ball goes soaring to the target. Interestingly, confidence can’t be faked. It comes from consistent practising, positive self-talk, and mental toughness. Pushing Through the Rough – There’s Always a Next Shot Not all days are perfect on the greens. There are moments when the ball just doesn’t seem to go where it’s supposed to. It can be discouraging and annoying, especially when you’re playing in a tournament. But successful golfers don’t let these moments get the best of them. They persevere through tough situations and never give up. Fostering a positive mindset helps. Shift your focus from a poorly played shot to the next one, and use your disappointment as motivation to do better. Zen on the Greens – Less Stress, More Game Successful golfers put behind everything when they enter the course. They understand that their score depends on the decisions they make, and the decisions rely on their present-mindedness, alertness, and focus. So, even if they 3-putt, they don’t let that affect the shot at hand. Following the same pre- and post-shot routine will help you stay in the present. You won’t have the time to let a bad shot haunt you because you’ll be too busy preparing for the next one. Plus, it’ll make every shot look the same, eliminating the stress of “I have to get this right!” from the game. Staying Par-Fect – Let it Go With the Wind There are a few things in master golf that you can’t control. The ball’s trajectory and the wind are two to count on fingertips. But you can control your emotions, and that can transform your game. It’s okay to feel frustrated or disappointed after a bad shot – anyone would. But it’s imperative to manage these emotions so they don’t cloud your judgment. Take a deep breath and tell yourself that it’s just one shot. You have the next one to make things right. Don’t let anger or disappointment carry on to the next shot, or it’ll affect your entire game. Golf IQ – Holding on to the Tee-to-Green Playbook Sometimes, in the midst of the “new” and the “tricky”, golfers forget the basics. But it’s a strong foundation of the fundamentals that can truly help you navigate through a challenging course. Therefore, you must continually spend time to practice your grip, position your body, and swing to master golf. It’ll also help if you understand how different clubs affect the shots. For example, a 7-iron will give you more distance than a pitching wedge. Handshakes and High-Fives – See Beyond the Scorecard Golf is known as a gentleman’s
Golf Day – What to Look Out For

A competitive and enriching game of golf can vivify camaraderie and relaxation. This is why we’re experiencing a growing trend of corporate golf days. What’s a corporate golf day? Corporate golf days are a remarkable way of connecting with your most valuable stakeholders while strategically embedding your company’s brand image. When planned with a social cause in mind, they can also fulfil your corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives. On a corporate golf day, a company welcomes its employees, clients, and business partners to spend a day on their chosen golf course, enjoying teeing off and networking with one another. Ideally, a round of golf is followed by lunch in the clubhouse, where business discussions take over the table in a light mood. However, executing a corporate golf day without a hitch is more than a walk in the park. It takes research, careful planning, and the right sponsorship partner. In this post, we’ll uncover all the important aspects of a corporate golf day that you must pay attention to. P.S. Stay with us through the end to discover how a corporate golf day can benefit your company and ways to make the most of it. Picking the Right Location The golf course you select will speak volumes about your company. It should be spacious enough to accommodate your list, well-maintained to represent your company fairly, and well-equipped for a corporate event. You must consider the location as well. Although golf enthusiasts wouldn’t mind travelling a distance for a reinvigorating golfing experience, you should finalise a venue that’s accessible to everyone. Since corporate golf events tend to last an entire day, the right course will have a decent clubhouse with amenities such as lockers and showers and, of course, a restaurant or bar for post-game activities. Having said all that, the chances of the golf course of your corporate dreams being out of your budget or simply unavailable on the date are high. That is why we highly recommend having a backup venue in mind. Identifying Your Target Audience Despite how appealing the idea of including everyone from the company seems, it’s not practical. Therefore, it’s crucial to identify your target audience beforehand. Consider who you want to connect with at the event – potential clients, existing clients, or business partners. Identifying your target audience will allow you to personalise your invites accordingly. Since you want everyone you want to be present at the event, send invites out as early as possible and follow up with reminders. This way, they’ll have your event’s date in their diary – noted and remembered! Choosing the Right Game Format You can select several different types of competitions, depending on the size of your party, the level of competitiveness you want to set, and the goals of the event. Typically, corporate golf days follow the Scramble format. It promotes teamwork, keeps the game light-hearted, and moves quickly. Greensomes, Modified Pinehurst, Shamble, and Texas Scramble are interesting formats, as well. Tip: Your corporate golf day will certainly have players from varying skill levels. Therefore, we suggest choosing a format that’s simple and fun enough for beginners while allowing the pros to showcase their skills. Selecting the Apparel for Representatives Regardless of your agenda, the event is corporate, and you’d want your company to appear professional and well-represented. Therefore, we recommend selecting a dress code for your organising team. It’ll enhance your brand’s visibility and showcase your dedication to the event. How about customised polos with your brand name and “Team” printed on them? Add personalised women’s and men’s golf hats to finish the look. Putt Pursuit offers custom product collaborations. If you’re looking for a sponsor, they fit that bill, too. That leads us to our next point. Finding the Right Sponsorship Partner Corporate golf days can be expensive. From golf course booking to logistics and personalised gifts for golfers, there’s a lot you need to care for. Therefore, having a trustworthy sponsor on your side is an integral part of hosting a corporate golf day. It not only alleviates some of your financial burden but also elevates your event’s credibility. Putt Pursuit is a trusted and reliable sponsor. The company shares enthusiasm for the sport and has some outstanding offers you can’t pass on, including: Offering free tees for the day to all the invited golfers Gift bundles worth £30 to the top 3 players of the day Forward all proceeds of the day to charity The company also makes donations to the charity for which the event is hosted. Focusing on Your Brand Amidst all the excitement, remember the reason you are hosting the golf day – to promote your brand. It’s an excellent opportunity to be seen and heard in a relaxed setting. In this section, we’ll help you understand a few effective ways you can help your brand steal the limelight. Promotional Golf Course Decoration From the moment the attendees step foot on the course to the time they tee off, there are ample opportunities to showcase your brand. How about setting up a branded welcome banner? Or displaying your company’s logo on the flags? Directional signage, printed tablecloths, and golf cart wraps are other unmissable branding opportunities you can take advantage of. Create cohesion and deepen the effect by ensuring all the banners and signs complement your company colours and logo. Promotional Personalised Gifts for Golfers Gifting personalised items to golfers will count as a gesture of goodwill while promoting your brand. We have some interesting golf gift ideas for you to consider: Personalised Golf Tees Customised golf tees are practical gifts to include in your PR packages. They’ll remind your guests of their wonderful experience at your event every time they use them. Plus, a custom golf tee with your brand’s name on it can serve as a keepsake. The best part about personalised golf tees is their cost-effectiveness. Trust us; when there are 18 holes to cover, you’ll be glad you considered this option. Golf Tee Bag Another
Supporting Sustainable Golf, A Look at Our Cabretta Leather Golf Gloves

Golf course superintendents, with their efficient irrigation techniques, strategic investment in drought and pest-resistant grasses, and state-of-the-art tech for monitoring course conditions, have brought the sport to the forefront of sustainable athletics. Today’s golf courses are no longer seen as water-guzzling, pesticide-ridden land tracts but as environmentally responsible spaces. With that major shift, it’s only natural that golfers who embody the green spirit of the sport are now choosing eco-friendly equipment, including sustainable golf gloves. Golf gloves are an indispensable part of a golfer’s gear, providing grip, comfort, and protection during the game. Gladly, with the growing awareness of environmental issues, golfers are now looking for sustainable options in their equipment as well. Enter Cabretta leather golf gloves. At Putt Pursuit, we include sustainability as one of our core values. From bamboo golf tees to Cabretta golf gloves, we keep our carbon footprint in check while providing high-quality golf equipment to our customers. In this post, we’ll talk about our most sought-after leather golf gloves made from Cabretta and highlight how this product helps us support sustainable golf. What is Cabretta Leather? Cabretta leather is a premium-quality leather made from the hides of hair sheep. This breed of sheep is mainly raised in parts of the Caribbean, South America, and Africa. Contrary to popular belief, Cabretta leather isn’t a result of animal cruelty. Hair sheep, like all other sheep, are slaughtered for their meat across the world, making their hides a by-product of the food industry. The hides, instead of being dumped in landfills, are taken to tanneries, treated, and processed into Cabretta leather. Later, this soft and exquisite leather material is transformed into different products, including Cabretta golf gloves. Characteristics of Cabretta Leather Cabretta leather has gained popularity in the fashion industry. You’ll find jackets, bags, and even shoes made out of this leather. In the golf world, they are the go-to choice for gloves. The question is, what makes Cabretta leather golf gloves so desirable? Softness and Flexibility Cabretta leather has an incredibly soft and supple feel. The gloves made with this leather type are easy on the skin, promote flexibility, and fit like a second skin. Durability Despite its softness, Cabretta leather is exceptionally long-lasting and durable. It withstands the wear and tear that comes with regular use, making it an ideal choice for golf gloves. Light Weight Unrestricted and precise hand movement is the deciding factor between a poor or a great shot. Heavy gloves can hinder hand movement, leading to inaccurate shots. Cabretta leather is lightweight, allowing for maximum dexterity and control. Breathability Golfers know the struggle of sweaty palms on the course. Cabretta leather golf gloves are breathable, ensuring your hands stay cool and dry even in hot weather conditions. How Does Cabretta Leather Contribute to Sustainable Golf? Happily, golfers are now taking a more conscious approach towards the environmental impact of their sport. By choosing Cabretta leather golf gloves, they are making an eco-friendly choice and supporting sustainable golf. Below are a few ways in which using Cabretta leather contributes to Earth-friendly practices: By-Product Utilisation As established earlier, Cabretta leather is a by-product of the meat industry. Using the sheepskin to make golf gloves reduces waste and promotes responsible use of resources. Biodegradability Unlike other synthetic materials, Cabretta leather decomposes naturally without releasing harmful chemicals into the environment. It also doesn’t contribute to microplastic pollution, making it a sustainable choice for golf equipment. Longevity With proper care, Cabretta leather golf gloves can last for multiple seasons, reducing the need for frequent replacements and ultimately decreasing waste. Putt Pursuit’s Max Form Cabretta Leather Golf Glove We’ve put immense thought into designing and manufacturing our Max Form Cabretta Leather golf gloves. Our premium quality Cabretta leather comes from ethical sources and is processed to ensure the material is free of scratches and cuts. Our Max Form design promises to deliver comfort, strong grip, and dexterity – three factors that are exceptionally important during a round of golf. Frequently Asked Questions Does Max Form Cabretta Leather Golf Gloves Come in Different Sizes? Our Max Form design comes in a standard size. However, the Velcro closure ensures the glove fits like a second skin, keeping your fingers and thumb in place. Are Cabretta Gloves Heavy? No, they are not! Cabretta golf gloves are made of lightweight sheepskin, making them light yet durable. Our Max Form Cabretta Leather golf gloves let you move your hand without any extra weight, making them the perfect fit for your game. Are Cabretta Golf Gloves Suitable for All Weathers? Yes, our Max Form design is suitable for all weather conditions. The leather material and perforated inserts ensure breathability, keeping your hands cool and dry in hot weather while providing warmth in colder temperatures. Since Cabretta leather is water resistant, you can enjoy teeing off on a rainy day without worrying about a slipper grip and bunker shots. How to Care for Cabretta Leather Golf Gloves? Although long-lasting and durable, Cabretta gloves need some TLC. We recommend using a mild leather cleaner and conditioner once in a while to get rid of any dirt and debris. We suggest handwashing them, but if you’re using a machine, set it to a delicate cycle to protect your gloves from damage. Let them air dry naturally and avoid direct sunlight. Better Grip for Better Play The quality of your golf gloves plays a major role in your performance. The fit ensures a strong grip, perforations keep things airy inside, preventing sweaty palms and slip issues, and the weight of the material affects your hand movement. The Max Form Cabretta Leather Golf Gloves at Putt Pursuit bring all these features (and more) to your tee
How Can Someone Become A PGA Pro Golfer? From our in house PGA Pro himself

A PGA pro golfer is a member of the Professional Golfer’s Association. These are professionals who’ve reached the highest level of skill in the sport by competing in tournaments and adhering to the strict standards set by the PGA. Becoming a PGA pro golfer is not easy; it requires years of dedication and hard work. In this blog post, we’ll share details on how to successfully become a part of the PGA Tour. Although it may seem like a lot of work, the bounties are worth the hustle. So, if you’ve set your heart to it, don’t give up midway. Trust your skills and keep pushing. You’ll get there! Becoming a PGA Pro Golfer Ace Your Game There are only 125 spots on the PGA Tour, so securing yours demands more than talent. You need dedication, determination, discipline, and unwavering focus. If you don’t want to say goodbye to your PGA Pro dreams, practice harder. Work on perfecting your swing, hitting accurate shots, and improving your short game. Recruiting a professional coach is a great idea, as you’ll have someone to hold you accountable, correct your form, and push you beyond your limits. Acing your game also includes preparing your body for it. Follow a balanced diet and a consistent workout routine for physical wellness. Since golf is a mentally demanding sport, don’t forget to work on your mental strength. Practice meditation, visualisation techniques, and positive self-talk to keep your mind calm and focused during competitions. If you can master this stage, you’ve already conquered half the battle towards achieving your PGA Pro golfer dreams. Play Amateur Events Amateur golf events are for non-professional golfers and are organised by local clubs. If you feel your game is solid, participating in these events is a good start to getting the taste of the real deal. But don’t just sign up for any. Each event has different locations, types of competitions, total costs, and number of days. Do some research before enrolling in one. Most golfers continue to play at amateur events for life instead of leveling up to the PGA Tour. Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with that. If you’re in it just for the love of the game and to meet like-minded people, amateur events are perfect. Conversely, if you’re determined to become a PGA pro golfer, treat every tournament as practice for the big league. Prepare yourself mentally and physically and give it your all, even if it’s just a small local event. Go Pro! Have you been consistently performing well at amateur competitions? Great! Now, for the moment of truth – do you want to go pro? Entering professional competitions is not only expensive but also excessively competitive! So, deciding whether you want to take your golfing career further is entirely up to you. Q-School has four stages, including: Pre-Qualifying 1st Stage 2nd Stage Final Stage You must complete these in a span of four months. Each stage tests your golf skills, physical strength, and mental capabilities. It’s needless to say that each stage is harder than the one preceding it. If you perform well, clear the final stage, and are in the top 25, congratulations! You’ll have an unconditional spot on the Korn Ferry Tour. Don’t droop those shoulders yet. There’s still hope for those who finish 25-50. They’ll get conditional status, which means you can participate in some Korn Ferry Tour events. Become a PGA Pro Golf Player Clear the four gruelling stages of Q-School, finish in the top 25 at the Korn Ferry Tour, and get ready for your debut as a PGA Pro golfer. This is the day you’ve worked so hard for. You’ve practiced tirelessly, cried, and laughed your way through the amateur events. It’s finally time to reap the rewards of your dedication. But it’s not the end of tough days. You’ll still have to work hard, stay focused, and play your best golf to ensure you stay on the PGA Tour. Some golfers manage to last years, while others win a few times and struggle to reclaim their place in the top 125. If we’re being honest, it’s an uphill battle. You’re competing against the world’s finest golfers, the travel schedule is exhausting, and the courses are challenging. Above all else, golf is an unpredictable sport. You can’t put anything but your best foot forward to stay on the tour. Final Thoughts The journey to becoming a PGA Pro golfer isn’t one without its ups and downs. But it’s a dream worth working hard for. If you’re at your A-game and are determined to make it better with each swing, if you’re ready to put behind everything and travel for the love of sport, if you aren’t afraid of challenges and being knocked down only to restart with improved vigor – the PGA Tour is for you. But because it’s an expensive dream, we recommend thinking about your decision. Once you’re clear about your objectives, don’t
20 Cool Golf Terms You Should Know

“Check it out; the dawn patrols practicing their sunrise swag on the dance floor!”? “I got a hot dog and a drink at the turn.” “Damn, I hate being stuck in a cabbage!” Err, what? That’s golf talk, fellas! Like any other sport, golf has its own terms to keep things cheery on the greens. For a rookie, it can be as confusing as trying to juggle golf balls while riding a unicycle! But if you’re not on your A-game yet, it’s the lingo that’ll help you blend in with the seasoned golfers. Now, without further ado, let’s get you familiar with a few cool golf terms. Golf Terms for Course Conditions Rough Has any of your shot ever landed on that thick, tough-to-get-out-of, green grass on the sides of the fairway? That’s rough! No, literally, the spot is called “Rough.” It’s a struggle finding your ball here, let alone hit it back on the green. So, it only makes sense that golfers try to stay away from it as much as possible. A bad rough is called a cabbage, and the wildest one is a jungle. If you ever hear a golfer frustratingly say, “I’m stuck in a cabbage“ they’re in for some trouble! And if they’re dealing with a jungle, oh well, we can only wish them luck! Dance Floor The putting green – here’s where the game comes to life, hence the name, dance floor! A good dance floor will have a smooth surface that allows the ball to roll smoothly and predictably. It’s neither too fast nor too slow, and of course, there’s no nasty pest teaming up with the wind either. This is the spot where you want your ball to land, so make sure you’ve got your putting skills (or, shall we say, dancing skills) on point! Frog Hair If the dance floor is the smooth, predictable surface, then frog hair is the complete opposite. It’s a term used to describe extremely fine grass on the green that can easily mess up a putt. Imagine trying to putt on hair-thin blades of grass – not an easy task! Watery Grave Meet the kiss of death for your scorecard! A watery grave is a water hazard on the course. It could be a lake, a pond, or (what looks innocent but isn’t) a small stream. If your ball takes a dip here, it’s gone for good. All you’ll be going home with is an extra stroke added to your score. Golf Terms for Players SandBagger Do you know that one friend who always downplays their golfing skills but somehow manages to play better than everyone else? They might just be a sandbagger! This term is used for someone who intentionally plays worse than their actual skill level so they can gain an advantage in a tournament! Mudder A mudder golfer enjoys getting down and dirty, quite literally! They are the ones who do surprisingly well in wet or muddy conditions on the course. While others struggle to keep their footing, a mudder will walk in style, swing with ease, and come out on top! Hacker Hackers are golf players who have more balls than clubs in their bags. Wonder why? That’s because they send their balls to party in the bunkers, take a dip in water hazards, and hide in the bushes. Their swings are wild! Scratch Let’s talk game! Scratch golfers are players with a handicap of 0. They’re the pros, the ones who make playing golf look like a walk in the park (or, should we say, on the green!). Golf Terms for Players’ Actions Milk the Grip Have you seen someone go back and forth on the toothpaste tube to squeeze out every last bit? That’s what milking the grip looks like. It’s when a player keeps shifting their grip on the club, hoping for that perfect shot. Sadly, it never really works out that way! Knees are Knocking Regular people get butterflies in their tummies when nervous, and golfers get weak knees! “Knees are knocking” is a term used when someone’s nerves get the best of them, and their legs start to tremble before making a shot. Yips Yips are inexplicable, uncontrollable twitches or jerks that mess up an otherwise easy putt. Picture a robot running low on batteries or your hand deciding it’s auditioning for a jitterbug dance. It’s frustrating for the player but oh-so-entertaining for everyone else! Golf Terms for Shots Mulligan We all love second chances, don’t we? In golf, we like to call it a mulligan. It’s a do-over shot without penalty that’s only cool in casual games. Some also call it “Breakfast Ball” .The idea is that a golfer is teeing off so early in the morning that he has probably missed his breakfast, and that’s why he gets another chance in case he messes up. How generous! Foot Wedge A foot wedge is a sneaky trick where you nudge the ball to a more favorable position when no one’s looking. Of course, it’s cheating, but hey, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do! Fried Egg The name’s as funny as the situation itself! Imagine hitting your ball into a bunker (a sand-filled area on the course), and it sinks in deep, creating a crater-like depression – that’s what we call a fried egg. You’ll know it when you see it. It’s entertaining watching someone trying to get out of this situation. Chilli Dip No, this has nothing to do with chilli, dips, or chips! It’s not a lunch break; it’s a heartbreak! Chilli dip is a sad shot where the clubhead hits the ground before kissing the ball, causing it to pop up in the air and fall short of its intended target. Just like how spicy food can leave your tongue burning, this shot will leave you feeling frustrated and maybe a little embarrassed as well. Shank A shank in golf is like the club’s rebellious teenage phase. You want the clubface
